About him
Honest, loyal, dependable, generous and easy like Sunday morning. I always say what I mean and mean what I say. I was born in London and grew up in Nigeria. I fell in love with the English language as a boy and becoming a journalist just seemed so logical. I am also fascinated about my native Yoruba roots and its rich oral traditions. I know the real reason mosquitoes make that annoying buzzing noise and many more folktales I learnt under the moonlight. I think I'm a good storyteller.
I write features across many subjects and work nights in London as a Subeditor on one of the national newspapers. I also have a small work studio which also doubles as a bolthole for my other pursuits; writing, photography, rare books, magazines and some props. I run pop-ups where I sell independent magazines, objets d'art, limited edition prints and small exquisite gifts and stationery mostly made in Japan. It is a growing passion.
I lean towards organic food, and inching towards vegetarian. Teetotaller (wine exempted) and non-smoker. But not judgemental about how people choose to live their lives. My motto is: live and let live. Outdoors and a brisk autumnal walk in the woods is favourite pastime. Binoculars, DSLR, birdwatching and kicking dry leaves in the air. Ansel Adams, Helmut Newton & David Bailey inspire me. Dogs and cats can join us under the duvet if they are well behaved.
Music is quite eclectic; Jazz, Afrobeat(s), Motown Soul and Classical. I also edit an online news & lifestyle magazine so do the rounds of all the cultural offerings. I know a little about everything, to get by as a competent hack ... apart from Cricket.
Achilles Heel--
Can switch off pronto if people are manipulative and not candid. Absolutely no interest in shares, property and loads of cash. Apart from what's in my Michelin-man piggy bank, I make just enough to be independent and dignified. I have never set out to be minted and nothing has swayed me thus far. I do not drive nor own a car. But I do have a racing bike.
