About him
I don't think I could be labelled 'adventurous' in the usual sense, though I did once manage the all-night queue at Wimbledon to get a ticket for the Men's Singles Final - all I had with me were the clothes I stood up in and a small duffel bag with some toiletries - so I suppose that might be classed as foolhardy rather than adventurous!
Nowadays sport, together with politics and current affairs, tend to be subjects I try to pretend don't exist. An unhealthy attitude perhaps, but it at least avoids the anger and disappointment of seeing the wrong people win and the right people letting me down.
These days my interests are mostly sedentary - reading, listening to classical music, struggling with The Times crossword, or doing jigsaws. I have spent a lot of time in recent years researching the history of a rural school and the community it served, and have managed to see the end product in book form. At present I am sketching out some ideas for short stories. I suppose these things might be classed as adventurous, as might signing on for a dating agency!
I have no desire to sail the seven seas or climb any mountains, preferring to get my spiritual comfort and inspiration from walking through the area I live in. Within five minutes I can see birds, trees, flowers, hills and a river, and I don't have to pay a penny for the privilege! As for clubbing, dining out, going to the cinema and concerts, etc, if I indulged in much of that at today's prices I would be destitute within a month!
About his ideal match
I could describe myself as being both a 'half full' and a 'half empty' person, with half of me grateful that my life is not worse than it is, and the other half nonetheless wishing it could be better. What would make it better would be the companionship of a cheerful, contented, non-assertive lady who thought that I might help to fill an empty part of her own life.
